I would like to out some new musical compostions for sound project class but I still couldnt find a way to upload them to the blog.

1. Find similarities and oppositions between different stories. Use graphical link to emphasis them. For example; red links for opposition, green links for similarities.

2. Use small thumbnails as possible for the  images.

3. A story can be branched in itself. This means there can be many variations of one story, they can end up with the same final image or with different final images for each variation.

4.Find a way to embed video and audio in freemind.

5. It would be great to have a feature such as “pre-defined paths” in order to follow different story flows easily.

6. It would be great if you could upload an uneditable version of the project on the net.

7. Use image randomizers from sites like sxc.hu/flickr to enable happy accidents in your stories.

8. Never forget these rules while working on a new story!

9. Always update this post when you have a brillant new rule.

Daha sonra Elif hocanın “multiple personna” konusundan ve – kısaca özetleyim- farklı tarzdaki işlerini nasıl farklı kişilikler altında sunduğundan bahsettiğinde, daha önce kendimle hiç bağdaştırmadıgım bu konunun -nedenide  bu kavramı gayet yuzeysel bır sekılde sadece bir tür zihinsel hastalık olarak algılayıp geçmemdendır- aslında farkında olmadan benim de aradıgım bir çözum oldugunu duşundum.

Yaptıgımız farklı konu/tarz/atmosfer/hissiyattaki işler gerçekten de kişiliğimizi oluşturan alt kişiliklerden mi doğuyor, bu soruya cevap veremesem de bu fikir en başta sordugum sorunun cevabını buyuk ölçüde yanıtlanıyor. Fakat hala birşeylerin eksik oldugunu, daha da şekillenip berraklaşması gerektıgını hissediyorum. Bu da ?duygu? kutuphanesi gibi bir sınıflandırmayla çok kişiliklilik konusunun bir şekilde kesişmesinden geçiyor diye seziyorum. Eğer tezimde bir hikaye betimleyeceksem, ana karakterin iç dünyası bu şekilde çok yönlü olmalı. Nasıl ki bazılarımız dinleyeceği muziği ruh haline göre seçmeye dikkat eder ve arşivini buna göre düzenler, benzer bir mantık karakterimin hayal dünyasında var olabilir. Bu konuda ilk aklıma gelen referanslar “The Cell” filmindeki katilin iç dünyasının muhteşem betimlemesi ve “Dreamcatcher” filmindeki zihin kütüphanesi betimlemesidir.

Bu noktada insanlara olan kızgınlığım, iyi şeylere olan umudumla çatışmaya başlıyor.

Bir yanım insanları baştan çıkarıp hissettikleri hayranlık duygusunun hayatlarındaki sevgi kadar sahte olduğunu yüzlerine vurmaktan haz alacak kadar nefret dolu. Fakat diğer yanım insanların gerçekten birkaç saniyeliğine de olsa bu mutlugu hissedip birbirlerine başka gözle bakabileceğini, bakış açılarını değiştirip hayata gülümsemelerini sağlayabileceğimi umut ediyor. Ama bunu gene onlar için mi yoksa kendimi tatmin etmek için mi yaptıgımı söyleyemiyorum.

Belkide tüm bunların temeli hepimizin içindeki iyi/kötü çatışmasından kaynaklanıyor. Söyleyemeye cesaret edemedigim gercekleri. haykırıp hıncımı almak mı, yoksa beni oldugum gibi sevmelerini umut etmek mi..

cennet şehir.2006 yılında yaptığım dijital resim.O zaman bana ne anlam ifade ettiğini cümlelere dökmeye cesaret edememiştim, merak ediyorum şimdi cesaret edebilsem de doğru kelimeleri bulabilecek miyim.

Burası evrenin çok çok uzaklarında bir yer. Korkularımdan, üzüntülerimden, endişelerimden uzaklaşabildiğim; mutlu ve huzurlu olmayı başarabildiğim, kafamın içinde yarattığım bir odacık.

Bir şekilde milyonlarca yıl yaşındaki bir yıldızın ölümünün oluşturduğu bir bulutsunun bende hayranlık uyandıran güzelliği, gözlerimi açınca akışına tekrar kapılacağım koşuşturmaya, yaşayacağım üzüntülere, göreceğim ve yapacağım çirkinliklere çok çok uzaklardan bakabilmemi ve gülümseyebilmemi sağlıyor. Varoluşumun ve beraberinde beni mutsuz eden herşeyin ne kadar silik ve geçici olduğunu birkaç saniyeliğine olsa da kavrayabiliyorum. Belkide 25 küsür yıllık hayatımdaki mutsuzluğun toplamının milyarlarca yıllık bir varoluşun içinde usulca eriyip kayboluşunu izlemek bana huzur veriyor. Ne ben ne de dertlerim sandığım kadar önemli, ben de bir gün bu toz parçacıkları gibi evrene süzülücem ve umarım birgün bir başkası benim bulutsumu görüp birkaç saniyeliğine de olsa mutlu hissedecek.

Peki kafamdaki bu görüntüleri somutlaştırmayı başarabilirsem, ucundan tadabildiğim bu kavrayışı tüm hayatıma katıp her daim bu huzuru hissedebilir miyim? Eğer ben yaptığım şeye baktığımda aynı şeyleri hissedemiyorsam, bir başkasına nasıl hissettirebilirim ? Bu, o güzelliği ne kadar doğru aktarabildiğime mi bağlı? Yoksa bu yüzden mi hep daha güzelini yapmanın yollarını arıyorum?

So I will be creating a complex visual audio narrative (also with video) that tells the story of creativity and the wish for others to love us.

I will continue to write here to tell you all the things that Im doing to bring about the story..

For the overall atmosphere, Ive got inspired from the techno soundtrack of  Beowulf (1999). I am really into that kind of techno arrangments since back I first watched that movie. Also I cant deny the influence of some prodigy songs and the almighthy Mortal Combat theme:)

The first thing that ive learned about musical arrangments that u should keep yourself very organized and follow a structral creation process. Oh! I remember that one from visual arts and also engineering, lucky me:) The reason is that it enables you to work faster and add some quick/spontaneous ideas whenever u want. I had to work faster and faster in order to catch up the melodies that came in to my mind.

I founded the best workflow is to set up your beats and sounds at first, give them melodies and effects, think about when your “breaks” and “picks” are gonna take place (for the arrangment). Then go for the arrangment. Finally a good mastering and automation just to give it a sparkle.

The arrangment is especially the hard one, cause I realized the song would sound weaker even with amazing sounds if your composition is not interesting enough. In that terms, I was lucky because I have chosen a solid tv ad and all I need to do is to stay synchronized with the visuals and give the true feeling of the scenes with the music. I think a bit of imagination and fantasy would work for this task regarding that u can use the visuals as a guideline for your musical arrangment.

Finally a bit of technical details. Done with Ableton Live 8 and some plugins. Melodyne and Soundforge for rewire programs. Oxygen8 for midi keyboard and m-audio fast track usb for external sound card.

It would be really cool if I could make a video of the things I see when using extention tube. I think I like to explore the ways of capturing those kinds of exciting sceneries.

Another common problem of mine is that i always forget what i thought last night.. forget to apply those ideas to every seconds of my life.. I should remember to read what i wrote over here, i should also remember to remember it and also remember what to remember..

I thought about this all night, because i never followed a well planned process in any of my works. I never thought about that it as a process. I always thought that it should be spontaneous like a brush stroke and and very intense emotionally. I always tried to finish what i do in one night and never look back again even it is unfinished. But it is so wrong !

Like everyone i tried to reflect my imagination with various medias.. but my main ideas, the images that i see in my head usually failed to become alive.. because i always tried once!  Now i start to understand about the design process.

Such simple but important words.. From now on i will try to  think gradually, step by step and with patience. If u fail in the beginning dont give up, because it is a “process”. You build on where u failed and what learned not to do.. I am a bit lucky on this one, because im trained to think about the solutions and i should apply my previous knowledge on what i want to do now: to design.

The question “how” is essential. If u cant manage to do something, the easiest and sometimes the best way is to find someone who did it properly and examine the work with patience and logic.. fractionalize the problem to its basics and recreate your work with your own touch. The important thing is to keep your originality, you should aim to learn on the previous works not to copy them..

I wondered what was that when i first saw it and became a fan just after looking to the amazing works produced by Chris Seckels

Red Nose Studio consist of one man actually. This guy is a self taught sculptor and he has been doing breathtaking illustrations and sculptures for the entretainment industry just for a few years.

Here is a perfect example of his design process:

Actually, what amazes me is the design process over here. He first sketches the scene, creates the character, illustrates it, then makes a detailed sculpture using those as reference. Then again he shoots the close-up shot of the created scene. What a well planned and neat work.

As Chris says in his blog, a designer or an artist should know everything. You can just make sculpting or photography or illustration..but in order to be a good designer/artist; you should have a knowledge on all kinds of Visual Arts.

I was confused for the last 2 weeks on “what to do” because i have a tendency to learn everthing about visual arts and sometimes i feel greedy..because it also means that i have no particular interest on a particular subject. But is it ?

Now i think different, just those images and a couple of words of Chris changed my mind. One can have various interests and various tendencies, but it doesnt mean that he/she dont know what to do. It is a process. You explore your tools, sometimes you combine all those tools, you should follow your intiscts on what to do.I understand that my concerns are natural, you should always have an eye on others work, not to critise them but just to learn more and keep your ideas fresh.

Yes.. more works from Chris, you should also check his blog and especially check the wide angle photo of the studio too. It is seen on the contact page.I think its how a visual artist studio should look like..

He always claimed that he did not know the meaning of his artworks and was always uninterested in possible interpretations. Therefore, he never titled any of his drawings or paintings. He stated “I wish to paint in such a manner as if I were photographing dreams”.

Beksinski had a quite interesting life ; he became into one of the masters of the fantasy art from a mere construction site supervisor. He had no formal training as an artist. He claimed not to be much influenced by literature, cinema or the work of other artists, and almost never visited museums or exhibitions. Music was his main source of inspiration and he always listened classical music while performing his art.

Beksiński was found stabbed to death at his flat at Warsaw in 2005.

What impresses me about Beksinski is his passion for transposing his dreams to reality in such a perfectionist manner and yet his paintings never lack genuinity and emotion. He always painted on smiliar concepts and created such atmospheres where he expressed a unique sense of “Baroque” and “Gothic”.
